Tryout FAQ:
Q1: I see there are 3 tryout dates. Does that mean my daughter has to come to all 3?
A1: No. A girl is only required to attend one tryout session. That being said, I do encourage each girl to come to as many of the
tryout dates as she can. These are young girls, and I have noticed that they will typically be most nervous at their first tryout.
They will usually perform better at each succeeding tryout. Plus, they'll have fun! So attend as many as you can, but you are
only required to make one.
Q2: What is the cost to tryout for the Vienna Stars?
A2: Nothing! All tryouts are free.
Q3: How many open roster spots are there on the team?
A3: Plenty. Most 10U teams rebuild every season. This is the ground floor for travel ball, where everyone
should strive to get on. Roster sizes will vary from team to team, and even from season to season on every
team. There is plenty of roster room on this year's 10U Stars team for any deserving girl.
Q4: What position does the coach's daughter play?
A4: The 10U coach does not have a daughter on the team. So all positions are available! ;-)
Q5: If my daughter makes the team, when does she start?
A5: We like to start the first week in September. The exact times and days will depend upon field allocation.
Q6: How often does the team practice?
A6: Twice a week.
Q7: Where does the team practice?
A7: Usually at Caffi field.
Q8: How much does it cost for the year to join the Stars program?
A8: Fees are recalibrated every year, but don't change much year-to-year. Last year, the Fall cost was $155 for the team fee,
and $30 for the shirt, socks and visor. The Winter cost was $300 for the team fee, which pays for the rental on the warehouse
in which we practice November 1 - February 28. The Spring/Summer cost was $350 for the team fee - which includes bat bags and
helmets - and $140 for uniforms.
Q9: Can we do fundraising or bring in sponsorships to defray our costs? Are we
*required* to do either?
A9: You may choose to bring in sponsors or hold fundraisers, and use the proceeds to eliminate up to 100% of your team fees.
You must pay for uniforms, shirt, socks, and visor out of pocket. No one is *required* to do fundraising or bring in
sponsorships. If you wish simply to write a check, and be done with it, that's fine with me.
Q10: What kind of schedule will the 10U Stars have in the Fall?
A10: Last year, we had 6 Sunday doubleheaders (starting as early as noon, or as late as 3:00pm), and 2 weekend tournaments.
I would expect this Fall to be very similar.
